Six Mile started in Ithaca and this is where we know the neighborhoods, the conditions, and the homes best. From a single Belle Sherman soft-wash to whole-home care for an estate in Cayuga Heights, it's the same crew and the same standard every time.
Our first job was a basic house wash right here in the Belle Sherman neighborhood. It was just Oliver with a simple machine, a trailer, and most importantly, one neighbor willing to give a firefighter-owned startup a shot.
Three years later, we've grown to two trucks, but our core remains unchanged. The vast majority of our reviews come from right here in Ithaca. While we now run service days across the Finger Lakes, stretching from Skaneateles down to Watkins Glen, Ithaca is still home.
We run our operations out of Lansing, NY, and Oliver, the owner, is still an active Ithaca firefighter. We are entirely focused on giving all homes the detailed care they deserve. When you call us, you are dealing directly with a local business that has been cleaning the homes on your street for years.

Throwback to where we started with just a single trailer. The phone number on the side has changed, but our commitment to Ithaca homes remains consistent.
Cayuga Lake moisture, gorge-side shade, and a wide mix of construction eras make Ithaca harder on exteriors than most markets. Our approach is built around those specifics.
Cayuga Lake pushes humidity into the valley all year. Gorge-side and heavily wooded lots stay damp long after rain, which means algae and mildew build up faster on siding and north-facing surfaces than on sunnier, more exposed properties. Soft washing removes that growth at the root rather than just washing it off the surface.
Ithaca has everything from pre-war Craftsmans on East Hill to mid-century ranches on South Hill to modern builds near the university. We adjust technique to the material in front of us — original wood siding, old masonry, and aluminum trim each need a different pressure and solution than vinyl.
North-facing and shaded roofs in Ithaca grow Gloeocapsa Magma — the black algae that eats shingle granules from the inside. Low-pressure soft washing removes it the way shingle manufacturers actually recommend, without voiding your warranty the way high-pressure washing can.
Worried about your shingle warranty? Soft washing is the method manufacturers actually approve. See the full answer on our roof cleaning page.

Ithaca is where we have done the most work, built the most relationships, and accumulated the most verified Google reviews. Every neighborhood — Fall Creek, Cayuga Heights, South Hill, East Hill, Belle Sherman, West Hill, Lansing — has homes we have cleaned.
Whether you need a roof soft wash or a full exterior clean, or you are ready to add some elegant architectural lighting to your home, you get the exact same crew and the same uncompromising standard on every street.
Six Mile installs permanent, app-controlled LED architectural lighting on homes across Ithaca and the Finger Lakes. No ladders every December. No tangled strands. Custom colors and schedules from your phone, every season of the year.
We design and install every system ourselves, with the same crew and the same standard as our cleaning work. And because we're already on your roof for soft washing, it's easy to bundle a lighting assessment into the same visit.
Learn About Permanent LightingThe Whole-Home Bundle combines roof soft washing, house washing, window cleaning, and gutter cleaning into a single scheduled visit. One call, one crew, quoted per job. No subscription required.
Most Ithaca homeowners find it simpler and more cost-effective to handle everything at once rather than booking individual services across multiple days. Ask us to quote the full bundle when you reach out.

We started right here in Ithaca. Our first job was in the Belle Sherman neighborhood, with a single soft-washing machine and one crew member. We've been growing in Tompkins County ever since, and Ithaca remains the market where we have our deepest job history and most Google reviews. This is home turf.
All of them. We regularly work in Cayuga Heights, Fall Creek, Belle Sherman, East Hill, South Hill, West Hill, and Lansing. If you're in or around Ithaca, we're on your side of town.
